Belinda Gibson

Sydney hosted a luncheon with Belinda Gibson in July 2010 who shared with us her reflections on her first two years at ASIC, the challenges and opportunities of the role and ASIC’s regulatory response to the GFC.

Belinda joined ASIC as a Commissioner in November 2007 and was appointed Deputy Chairman in May 2010. Prior to ASIC, Belinda was a Partner in the Mergers & Acquisitions team at Mallesons Stephen Jaques from 1987 to 2007, and a Director of Airservices Australia from 2000 to 2004.

Belinda has oversight responsibility for the regulation of Australia's capital markets - both market oversight and enforcement of the integrity and transparency laws. Belinda also oversees the regulation of companies, through the Corporations and Emerging Mining and Resources teams, and has established a new stakeholder team focused on corporate governance issues.
