Mallesons tops Q3 league tables

Mallesons Stephen Jaques has topped the Mergermarket M&A league tables by value again this quarter and surged ahead of its Australian rivals in a number of jurisdictions.
The firm was ranked first by value for Australasia with 30 deals valued at US$24.4 billion in the period Jan-Sept 2009. In Asia, Mallesons was placed well ahead of its Australian competitors by value with the firm ranked 3rd for the Asia Pacific (ex. Japan) and 4th for Asia (ex. Japan and Australasia).
Further demonstrating the firm’s reach in the region, Mallesons was also ranked in the South East Asia tables.
In Europe, Mallesons was the only Australian firm to appear on the tables.
Mallesons’ league table performance confirms the firm’s market leadership. Recent keynote transactions for the firm include:
- Chinalco’s proposed investment in Rio Tinto;
- Lion Nathan’s acquisition by Kirin Holdings;
- Hunan Valin’s acquisition of a stake in Fortescue Metals;
- Blackrock's acquisition of Barclay Investment Group; and
- Singapore Technologies Telemedia’s and Emerald Communications' merger with Eircom Holdings Limited.
