Mallesons is named Employer of Choice for Women

12 March 2010

Mallesons Stephen Jaques has been named once again an Employer of Choice for Women by the Federal Government’s Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency (EOWA).

EOWA Acting Director Mairi Steele said the chosen companies are working hard to make their organisation a good place for woman to work.

“By applying for and receiving this citation, these organisations are not only meeting the pre-requisites and criteria, but are publicly declaring their commitment to making their workplaces equitable,” she said.

Mallesons is a strong supporter of equal opportunity initiatives. Women at the firm are represented on the Board, the Partnership Committee and the Admissions Committee. They also hold senior leadership roles as Partners, Executive Directors, Client Relationship Partners and Centre Staff Partners.

To be recognised as an EOWA Employer of Choice for Women, employers are required to meet specific criteria each year including offering a minimum of 6 weeks paid maternity leave; enabling female managers to work part-time; and ensuring the percentage of female managers is the same or greater than the industry average .
