12 March 2008

Mallesons Stephen Jaques has won silver prize at the prestigious 2007 Global Excellence Awards for Excellence in Business Process Management (BPM) and workflow implementations. Mallesons was the only Australian winner for 2007.

Now in their 14th year, the awards recognise excellence in innovative BPM solutions to meet strategic business objectives.

Mallesons was awarded second place in the Pacific Rim region for the firm’s initiative to embed BPM into its core technology infrastructure. ‘Circuit breaker’ applications were developed to reduce or remove non-productive and non-billable process overhead from the business.

“We are delighted to receive this award. It affirms Mallesons' significant and continuous investment in technology underpins our commitment to continuous improvement, change and innovation. Importantly, it also helps in sustaining our competitive advantage in the Asian and Australian legal services market,” said Gerard Neiditch, Mallesons’ Executive Director of Business Integration and Technology.

“The strategic decision to embed Business Process Management (BPM) ‘circuit breaker’ technologies into the core of our systems infrastructure, and the fabric of our business processes, has extracted financial, competitive and productivity dividends for both the business and its clients.”

Lead judge and BPM Industry Analyst Derek Miers commented on the strength of the entries, especially those from the Pacific Rim. “With a wide range of industries represented, the critical importance of driving performance improvement through more effective management of the firm‘s business processes was evident.”

The Awards were presented on Monday, February 25th, 2008 in Nashville, TN and included participants from five global regions: Europe; Middle-East Africa; North America; Pacific Rim; South and Central America.

The Gold Award for the Pacific Rim region was awarded to the overall Global winner - The Shanghai Commercial & Savings Bank. Other finalists in the Pacific Rim region were: Daewoo Shipbuilding & Engineering Co, Korean Ministry of Labour and Satyam Computer Services (India) Ltd.
