Tracey Reimers, People & Development Administrator, Perth
I started working at Mallesons in May 2001 originally as a floating secretary and then was lucky enough to be able to move across into the Human Resources department. This has enabled me to gain an appreciation of not only the legal side of the business, but also of the internal and people management aspects.
I find my position very satisfying because of the diversity of the tasks in my role. My work includes assisting with the coordination of learning and development programs, vacation clerkships, graduate and lateral recruitment, performance reviews and various administrative tasks. As well as centre based projects, I have also been fortunate enough to be involved on a national level and am currently the coordinator for service recognition gifts. It is always a good feeling acknowledging people for their hard work and commitment to the firm.
My experience has even expanded to the Canberra office where I was seconded for two weeks to help out while staff were on leave. My first visit to another centre and the nation's capital!
I thought I was juggling enough tasks but could not refuse the offer by Mallesons to help with further education so I am currently completing a Diploma in Business Management (Human Resources). My studies have complemented my practical knowledge of human resource functions.
