Bruce Priestley, Paralegal, Applied Legal Technology, Melbourne
I was attracted to the paralegal role at Mallesons as they are a well known and highly regarded law firm. My initial employment was to work on one specific case and has since broadened to include many different areas inside and outside the firm. The tasks I have been assigned have varied widely and have been challenging. The Applied Legal Technology department has a large number of paralegals from diverse areas, such as law students, international temporary staff and full time career paralegals which makes the department an interesting place to work.
As a paralegal I'm often involved in working with different departments, barristers, court staff and directly with clients. I have found Mallesons to be very focused on ensuring that all staff receive training of high quality in a relaxed environment. This makes acquiring new skills a pleasant experience allowing you to take more in and get the most out of the sessions. The facilities supplied for employees in all departments at Mallesons are in my experience the best in the legal industry. Mallesons also encourages socialising with monthly drinks, department morning teas, sporting activities and organised events which I've had a lot of fun at. I've thoroughly enjoyed my time while working at Mallesons and hope to continue in this role for some time to come.
