Kim O’Toole, Technology Trainer/Legal Secretary, Brisbane

I started work at Mallesons in March 2005 as secretary to a senior Partner and team of lawyers in the Mergers & Acquisitions group. I worked in this position for over 3 years and found the role interesting and challenging and the team dynamic, diverse and always a pleasure to work with. However when the opportunity arose for a part time Technology Trainer in the Brisbane centre, I jumped at the chance to utilise my prior technology experience and engage my people skills

As Technology Trainer I provide the technical induction for new starters in the centre as well as co-ordinate ongoing technical training for all staff, assisting to enhance their technical abilities and provide training on new products and software developments. As well as centre based training, I have also been involved in national technology projects and have found the national team of trainers fun, friendly and extremely helpful. The training role has afforded a new direction in my career and the opportunity to learn additional skills and increase my technical knowledge.The one thing that stands out in Mallesons would be the high focus that they place on their staff. They ensure that my needs as an employee are being met and allowed room for me to build on my capabilities.

Since the training role is 3 days per week, I was able to continue working with the Mergers & Acquisitions group for 2 days per week in a job share capacity. I believe this has given me the best of both worlds, as I get the opportunity to work with two fantastic teams and have a lot of diversity in my work.

Working at Mallesons has been a very satisfying and rewarding experience both professionally and personally.
