We take volunteering seriously. Hundreds of our people volunteer with our community partners including the Australian Red Cross, The Smith Family, National Children’s & Youth Law Centre and Urban Seed.
Most volunteering activities are undertaken by our partners and staff in their own time. We support staff volunteering by offering paid volunteer leave during working hours for approved activities.
Feedback indicates that our people derive great satisfaction from seeing the difference their volunteering can make. Examples of our volunteering activities include:
Providing breakfast and mentoring to disadvantaged school children through the Australian Red Cross Good Start Breakfast Club program
Telephone advice sessions, providing support to student mentors who, in turn, help younger, disadvantaged students improve their reading skills through The Smith Family Student2Student program
Sorting and delivering toys and hampers to clients of The Smith Family at Christmas
Supporting our Workplace Giving recipient organisations by volunteering for their fundraising events and programs.
Our charity partners report that our assistance has enabled them to:
Expand important programs and increase their capacity
Access a large pool of skilled and reliable volunteers for major projects
Access free or subsidised resources
Create new income streams for community projects
Focus on their core function - serving those in need.
For more details of our volunteer activities see the Mallesons in the Community Annual Report.
