Public Private Partnerships

Overview

Major corporates, governments, financiers and consortia come to our multi-disciplined team for our track record in successful Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) and our unique insight and understanding gained through advising across all infrastructure types and stakeholder groups.

King & Wood Mallesons recently advised on what has proved to be a watershed transaction for the Australian infrastructure market. The largest PPP globally at the time, the Victorian Desalination Plant brought new confidence to the market and there since has been a healthy pipeline of transport, utilities and social infrastructure projects throughout Australia.

Whether at bid level for government, financing or equity investment, King & Wood Mallesons has been involved in the majority of Australian PPP projects. From the Royal North Shore Hospital to the Brisbane North South Bypass Tunnel, clients have benefited from our multi-party experience, deep sector understanding (water, transport, electricity, gas, primary industry, telecommunications and social infrastructure) and our insight into governments' objectives and bidding processes, critical issues, documents required, protections typically sought and the risk allocation.

This insight has provided us with an understanding of the factors which contribute to the success of a project and the ability to use our multidisciplinary experience to develop proactive commercial solutions for financing, contracts, project management, construction, dispute resolution, tax structuring and much more.
