Project LAND 144 - Countermine Capability
We advised DOK-ING d.o.o of Croatia in its negotiation of a procurement agreement for the purchase by the Australian Defence Force of up to 8 MV-10 remote control land-mine clearance systems. We are continuing to assist DOK-ING with its other legal requirements in Australia, including putting subcontracting arrangements into place and advising on tax issues.

Australian Submarine Corporation
We act as strategic advisors to the Australian Submarine Corporation in relation to a wide range of corporate, business, intellectual property and litigation matters. We represented ASC in relation to a number of disputes with Kockums AB in relation to intellectual property, welding and other matters relating to the COLLINS Class submarines, and in relation to the final settlement of those issues.

Air-To-Air Refueller Aircraft
We are acting for Qantas in the negotiation of arrangements with the Commonwealth and EADS CASA for the delivery and through life support of the RAAF's new multi-role Air-To-Air Refueller Aircraft built on the Airbus A330-200 platform.

Defence Maritime Services
We acted for Defence Maritime Services as the preferred tenderer for the construction and through-life support of Project SEA1444 - the Replacement Patrol Boat Project for the Australian Navy. Defence Maritime Services is a joint venture between Serco Asia- Pacific and P&O Maritime.

Sikorsky
We acted for Sikorsky in its bid for the Project Air 9000 - a Defence procurement program to acquire several helicopter capability platforms including Multi Role Helicopter; Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter; and Heavy Utility Helicopter. This is a long-term strategic partner role, designed to take Defence's helicopter needs into the next generation, across the Army, Navy and Air Force

Raytheon Australia
We acted for Raytheon Australia in the acquisition of Honeywell's Aerospace and Defence Services (HADS) business unit in Australia. HADS was a provider to the Australian Defence Force for aviation life-cycle support operations in the form of avionics maintenance, logistics and depot operations for fixed wing platforms.

Jindalee Over the Horizon Radar (JORN) Project)
We acted for Telstra Corporation Limited in its successful bid for the Jindalee Over the Horizon Radar Project. We have subsequently continued to advise Telstra and the Project on a variety of operational, intellectual property and strategic business issues, including disputes with major sub-contractors. We ultimately assisted Telstra to negotiate arrangements with RLM Management for the assumption by them of responsibility for the JORN Project.

Lockheed Martin
We acted for Lockheed Martin as a major sub contractor to ADI on the FFG Frigate Progressive Upgrade Project.

Kistler Aerospace
We are acting for Kistler Aerospace on its project to establish a commercial space launch facility at Woomera in South Australia.

Paspaley Pearl Group
We recently acted for the Paspaley Pearl Group in its contract with the Australian Maritime Safety Authority for offshore search and rescue aircraft capability, based in Darwin.

Giat Industries
We acted for French-based Giat Industries in the negotiation of an ammunition supply contract for 30mm HEAP rounds for the Tiger Helicopter.

Hughes Aircraft Corporation
We acted in the complex and long running Federal Court proceedings for damages against Airservices Australia over breach of tendering arrangements. This was a landmark decision which has defined Commonwealth tendering practice and probity principles.

Department of Defence
We have acted for Australia's Department of Defence on a range of significant procurement projects including:

  • Helicopters for the Anzac Frigate project.
  • Project Djimindi - a new lightweight anti-submarine warfare torpedo capability.
  • Project Wedgetail - $3 billion Airborne Early Warning and Control Systems aircraft project including related ground facilities and support.
  • Project Nulka - Joint US project for an Active Missile Decoy system.
