Overview

Over 79% of our legal staff have provided pro bono assistance on matters for community and non-profit organisations, or volunteered at free legal clinics to help disadvantaged members of the community.

One of our key objectives is to harness the legal skills and experience of our people to benefit the broader community and our clients.  As such, we provide free legal advice and representation to disadvantaged individuals, not-for-profit organisations and our community partners.

We believe that giving pro bono advice to the disadvantaged is part of fulfilling our professional responsibility.  We value this contribution by our lawyers and treat the time they spend on pro bono work as equal to billable work.

What are the benefits of our pro bono work?

  • For disadvantaged individuals, our pro bono advice may be the only assistance open to them if legal aid is unavailable
  • Our pro bono advice enables our community partners and other not-for-profit organisations to concentrate their resources on directly helping recipients of their support rather than spending money on legal fees
  • We recognise that providing pro bono legal assistance gives our own people invaluable insights and experience.
