Mallesons Stephen Jaques appoints new chairman

Mallesons Stephen Jaques is pleased to announce that it has appointed partner Robyn Chalmers as Chairman of its Board effective 1 January 2002.

Ms Chalmers has been a partner in the Sydney office of Mallesons Stephen Jaques since 1984. She succeeds David Hoare as Chairman who has elected to retire from the Board.

“I look forward to the challenge of this role. After 17 years as a partner and five years as a Board member I have a real insight into the aspirations of our people and the needs of our clients in all our markets, particularly Asia Pacific,” said Ms Chalmers.

Chief Executive Partner, Mr Tony D’Aloisio, stated Ms Chalmers brings to the role sound strategic skills coupled with standing and respect within the partnership which she has earned over a number of years in different senior management roles with the firm.

“Robyn’s knowledge and expertise made her the stand out candidate to succeed David for this role,” said Mr D’Aloisio.

In addition to her role as Chairman, Ms Chalmers will continue as a partner in the dispute resolution practice where she has an outstanding reputation and specialises in professional indemnity and product liability litigation.

“David Hoare’s contribution to the firm has been exceptional and we thank him for the major role he has played in guiding our firm as Chairman of the Board since 1995,” concluded Mr D’Aloisio.
