1St Place – Australia/New Zealand by Total Value

Mallesons Stephen Jaques has won the Australia/New Zealand section of the 2000 M&A Asia Legal Adviser League Tables.

“We are pleased with the results and are grateful for the support from our clients,” said Mr Stephen Minns, M&A partner at Mallesons Stephen Jaques.

In accepting the award at Singapore’s Pinetree Town and Country Club, Mr Minns said: “The trend of globalisation and consolidation should continue to drive large, complex merger activities in all sectors in Asia Pacific. Reflecting on the nature of our practice, we are pleased to have been involved in some of the region’s larger deals.”

2nd Place – Joint Ventures (includes foreign joint ventures)

Mallesons Stephen Jaques also won second place in the Joint Ventures section of the 2000 M&A Asia Legal Adviser League Tables.

The firm acted as legal adviser on five joint ventures in 2000, amounting to a total value of US$6.5 billion.

Mallesons Stephen Jaques’ resident partner in Hong Kong, Tom Lennox, was present at the awards ceremony.

“These awards are indicative of the firm’s growing regional presence with a significant emphasis to provide clients with a comprehensive service not only in Asia Pacific, but also out of the London office,” said Mr Lennox.
