Mallesons Stephen Jaques “has consolidated its leading status in the region” being ranked as Australasia’s premier law firm in Chambers Global, The World’s Leading Lawyers, 2001-2002, which has just been released.
According to editor, Michael Chambers, this guide covers “only global areas of practice” and “has an influence in the profession unequalled by any other guide or directory”, listing Mallesons Stephen Jaques as the number one firm in Australasia.
In the ten areas of practice covered in the Australia section, Mallesons Stephen Jaques has been ranked in the top tier of every area, excluding International Arbitration, which only ranks individuals and of which the firm’s Peter Stockdale was ranked top tier.
Of Mallesons Stephen Jaques, Chambers Global 2001/2002 said: “The firm has consolidated its leading status in the region. It is again ranked in the top band in all ten Australian sections including our new intellectual property section. Its strongest offices overall are in Sydney and Melbourne, although it is universally viewed as being ‘strong across the board and across the nation’ with a ‘treasure chest of stars and support acts’ in all of its offices.”
Editorial went on to say: “In light of the firm’s consistently high reputation in recent years, it seems that the question is not whether the firm will put in a strong overall performance next year but just how strong that performance will be.”
“It is a pleasing endorsement of the firm, especially as it reflects the judgement of the market in regard to global areas of practice,” said Mallesons’ Chief Executive Partner, Mr Tony D’Aloisio.
Mallesons Stephen Jaques recently won Best Law Firm at the inaugural Australian Law Awards 2001, presented by THC Press.
In addition, the firm also picked up awards in the areas of M&A, Banking and Finance, Capital Markets and Tax.
The results of both Chambers Global and the Australian Law Awards place Mallesons Stephen Jaques firmly at the top of the ladder of Australian law firms.
