Mallesons Stephen Jaques has been awarded Law Firm of the Year for Australasia at the inaugural Chambers Global Awards 2001, presented last Thursday 31 May, at The Savoy in London.
According to publisher of Chambers and Partners, Michael Chambers, who presented the firm’s London partner Tim Blue with the Australasia Law Firm of the Year award: “The Australian ‘Law Firm of the Year’ award would not be given just because a firm was good. To win it, the firm had to be outstanding. Strong across the nation, and the acknowledged leader on the continent.”
This expands on what was written about Mallesons Stephen Jaques in the editorial of the recently released Chambers Global, The World’s Leading Lawyers, 2001/2002, which said: “The firm has consolidated its leading status in the region. It is again ranked in the top band in all ten Australian sections including our new intellectual property section. Its strongest offices overall are in Sydney and Melbourne, although it is universally viewed as being ‘strong across the board and across the nation’ with a ‘treasure chest of stars and support acts’ in all of its offices.”
This was the first Chambers Global Awards ceremony, with 32 separate prizes awarded in various practice area and regional categories, and according to publisher Michael Chambers, will be repeated again next year.
