Mallesons Stephen Jaques has been ranked number one in two recent surveys: M&A Asia’s Legal Adviser League Tables and Asiamoney’s inaugural law firm poll for the Asia Pacific region.
Mallesons Stephen Jaques has won the Australia/New Zealand section of the 2000 M&A Asia Legal Adviser League Tables.
As the legal adviser on a total of 75 M&A deals in 2000, amounting to a total value of US$20.23 million, Mallesons’ first place in the Australia/New Zealand league table, was followed by the Allens Arthur Robinson Group with 45 deals for a total value of US$19.59 million and Freehills with 44 deals valued at US$16.53 million.
Mallesons Stephen Jaques also posted good results in the other league tables published by M&A Asia, with a second placing in the Joint Ventures table with a total of US$6.65 billion only marginally behind US-based firm Morrison & Foerster with US$6.6 billion worth of joint ventures.
In addition, Mallesons Stephen Jaques was the highest placed Australian firm in the Asia-Pacific by Total Value and Widest Coverage tables.
These League Tables produced annually by M&A Asia magazine, rank law firms in various categories according to the total value of M&A deals as well as the number of M&A deals for which they provided legal advice.

Mallesons Stephen Jaques has also received accolades in a recent inaugural law firm poll published in the May issue of Asiamoney.
This law firm poll which surveyed legal counsel from some of Asia’s top corporations and financial institutions, ranked Mallesons Stephen Jaques as the number one Australian law firm in seven out of the nine practice areas surveyed. Mallesons’ nearest competitor was Freehills, which was ranked number one in three practice areas.
The practice areas in which Mallesons was ranked number one were; mergers & acquisitions, corporate/commercial law, general financial law, project finance, securitisation/structured finance, foreign investment and tax.
