Mallesons Stephen Jaques has been ranked number one in Australia and New Zealand in the 2002 M&A Asia Legal Adviser League Tables.
The firm recorded the highest number of completed transactions with 38 deals amounting to the greatest total value, US$17.594 billion.
In the Asia Pacific Tables the firm was ranked 19th, being the only Australian firm to gain a spot in the top 20.
The League Tables, produced annually by M&A Asia magazine, rank law firms in various categories according to the total value of M&A deals as well as the number of M&A deals acted upon.
Mallesons’ head of M&A, Michael Lishman, said: “These results, following on from the firm’s recent number one ranking for announced deals in the Thomson’s survey, further consolidate our position in the M&A market. Despite last year’s tough M&A environment, we have secured a recognised position for innovative and complex transactions. The commitment of our M&A team in Australia and Asia Pacific is to be commended.”
Frank Zipfinger, managing partner added: “We are pleased with the firm’s consistent rankings in such surveys, and above all we thank our clients for their ongoing support.”
