Global awards recognise Mallesons in Australasia/Far East

The Chambers Awards 2003 awarded in London last week have recognised Mallesons Stephen Jaques’ international practice in four categories for Australasia / Far East.

While the firm won the Law Firm of the Year title in Communication/IP, it was also ranked runner up (to Allen & Overy) in Banking and Finance; and short-listed in the areas of Corporate/M&A and Projects.

The Chambers Awards were positioned as “the first award ceremony for international lawyers” and was based primarily on extensive global research carried out for the Chambers Global Guide 2003-2004. In addition to their position in the market, law firms were assessed on their own development during the year. In assessing this research a distinguished panel of judges brought to bear their own experience as clients of international law firms.

Mallesons, “has made a splash in the Hong Kong market”, and is “privy to some of the finest deals in Australia”, were just some of the editorial comments made by organisers Chambers and Partners.

Commenting on the firm’s recent achievements, Mallesons’ Chief Executive Partner, Mr Tony D’Aloisio said: “These awards, in conjunction with the recent AsiaLaw / Asiamoney Law Firm Poll in which the firm was named “a clear leader in Australia”, are pleasing results for the firm. They reflect the enormous effort that has been put in by our people and we thank our clients for their support.

“We will continue to build on these achievements by further strengthening our service delivery as an international legal firm.”

This year Mallesons was also nominated as INSTO Magazine’s Law Firm of the Year and IFLR’s Australian Law Firm of the Year. The AsiaLaw / Asiamoney Law Firm Poll (featured in the May issue of both magazines) ranked the firm as the leading Australian firm in the areas of Mergers and Acquisitions, Banking and Finance, Capital Markets, Securitisation and Structured Finance.
