Mallesons’ Perth centre gains new partner

Mallesons Stephen Jaques has announced the transfer of Financial Services partner, Nicholas Creed to the Perth centre.

Nicholas, who has been a partner in the Melbourne centre for two years, recently joined the Perth centre’s Financial Services Group.

Most recently, Nicholas has acted for Telstra Corporation Limited in Melbourne and Hong Kong in relation to the buyout by Telstra and PCCW of the US$1.2 billion bank debt of their international cables joint venture, Reach Limited. He also acted for GasNet in relation to the A$85 million limited resource project financing of its Telfer pipeline project.

Mallesons’ Perth is currently experiencing a high demand for additional resources in financial services and Nicholas’ move will assist the centre in the key growth areas of energy and resources, infrastructure and related corporate finance.

“Nicholas is one of the firm’s top young partners. His move to Perth is a direct response to increased client demand for our services, particularly in the energy and resources sector, locally and nationally,” said Robert Cole, Partner in Charge of Mallesons’ Perth centre.

Mallesons’ expanding reach throughout Australia and Asia Pacific enables movement of partners and lawyers between centres with a level of flexibility and ease that is the hallmark of the firm.

“This move by Nicholas further endorses the firm’s ability to service clients’ needs as, when and where they arise,” said Mr Cole.

Nicholas will work closely with Perth Financial Services partner John Naughton and other partners in the M&A and energy and resources areas, nationally, as required.
