Mallesons appoints its Managing Partner (International), Mr Robert Milliner to succeed Tony D’Aloisio at the helm.
The Chairman of Mallesons Stephen Jaques, Ms Robyn Chalmers, today announced the appointment of Mr Robert Milliner as Chief Executive Partner to succeed Mr Tony D’Aloisio.
Mr Milliner’s appointment will take effect from Monday 9 August 2004. There will be a short handover period to ensure a smooth transition before Mr D’Aloisio takes up his position at the ASX.
“Robert’s strengths are in developing strategies, effective implementation and working well with people. These are the qualities the Board and our partners consider of utmost importance in the firm’s Chief Executive,” said Ms Chalmers.
Robert Milliner comes into the role fresh from the announcement of the merger between Mallesons and Kwok & Yih in Hong Kong/China. As Managing Partner (International) for the past two years, the key focus of Mr Milliner’s move to Hong Kong was assisting with Mallesons’ international strategy.
“Robert has excellent credentials in understanding the domestic market, and his international experience is an important additional qualification for a firm which increasingly sees its future as a pre-eminent Asia-Pacific law firm. We are very fortunate to have secured someone of Robert’s calibre to lead the firm in meeting the challenges ahead,” said Ms Chalmers.
Mallesons appointed Mr Milliner, a partner with the firm for 20 years, after an extensive process of selection that included considering external candidates.
In accepting the appointment, Mr Milliner said: “I am honoured to have been selected to lead such a great firm. I eagerly look forward to working with our partners, lawyers and staff to serve our clients - both locally and internationally.
“Our recently expanded Asian operation is another step towards our vision of becoming a pre-eminent firm in the Asia-Pacific region,” he concluded.
Prior to becoming Managing Partner (International), Mr Milliner, who holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Laws (Hons) from the University of Queensland and a Master of Business Administration, was a practice leader in the area of Energy and Resources. He has outstanding credentials as a lawyer with commercial acumen and judgment.
Mr Milliner is 47 and is married to Diana Choquette, and has three daughters; Alexandra, Emelia and Katrina. He will be based in Sydney.
