Mallesons tops in arbitration at Asian Legal Business Awards

Mallesons Stephen Jaques has been awarded Arbitration Law Firm of the Year at the Asian Legal Business Awards 2004.

The annual awards recognise the outstanding professional achievements of leading in-house legal teams, law firms, chambers, managing partners and top legal practitioners.

Mallesons’ dispute resolution lawyers are widely regarded as leaders in Asia Pacific.

David Bateson, Paul Starr, Jennifer Lee-Shoy and Christopher Tung assist clients across the complete spectrum of dispute resolution services, from domestic litigation and alternative dispute resolution matters in Hong Kong to full-scale international arbitration held in Asia and worldwide.

The strong Hong Kong dispute resolution team has specialist knowledge in the areas of projects and construction, energy and environment and is active in advising on restructuring and insolvency matters in conjunction with the finance team. Partners act as arbitrators and mediators in the resolution of disputes in Hong Kong and throughout Asia Pacific.

“We are delighted to receive this award as acknowledgment of the hard work of our talented team and the support of our clients. We will continue to deliver high quality results - the trademark of Mallesons – for our clients,” said partner, Paul Starr.

Mallesons continues to service the growing regional needs of clients with a strong team of partners on-the-ground in Hong Kong. The recent merger between Mallesons and Kwok & Yih has further boosted the dispute resolutions team with the addition of former Kwok & Yih partners, Adeline Chin and Simon Clarke.

Asia Pacific Legal 500, 2003/04 recently published: “Mallesons Stephen Jaques’ reputation for contentious work stems from its leading construction practice, though commercial disputes are regularly handled by the experienced Paul Starr, Chris Tung and Jennifer Lee-Shoy. David Bateson is another astute practitioner and the team is gaining further recognition in the broadening area of ADR.”
