Dominant in Deals of the Year

With 10 award wins from 36 nominations Mallesons Stephen Jaques was again the dominant law firm at the ALB Australasian Law Awards.

According to Australasian Legal Business magazine, the Awards "aim to provide a dedicated platform for recognition of legal work in and out of the Australasian region that has reached new heights over the past year or so." The finalists in each deal category were assessed against a range of criteria, including deal value, complexity, number of parties involved, innovative deal structure, timeframe for completion and significance to the market.

The breadth of Mallesons' capability was again demonstrated by the spread of nominations and award wins across all areas of commercial practice.

The firm's practice teams were recognised for their work on a number of deals of the year, including:

  • Chatswood Transport Interchange (Commercial Property and Construction Deal of the Year)
  • CLP / Singapore Power (Energy & Resources Deal of the Year)
  • Darwin City Waterfront Project (Infrastructure Deal of the Year)
  • Reach Restructure (IT / Telco Deal of the Year)
  • Australian Growth Limited (Restructuring Deal of the Year)
  • RAMS Home Loans XCP Program (Securitisation Deal of the Year)
  • Royal Women's Hospital Redevelopment (Project Finance Deal of the Year)
  • Allco Max Securities and Mortgage Trust (Debt Deal of the Year)

Additionally, the firm's Project Finance team was nominated for Deal Team of the Year for its innovation, commercial acumen and outstanding service to clients across a number of transactions. Mallesons' M&A partner Stephen Minns was also nominated as Dealmaker of the Year.

Mallesons' Chief Executive Partner Robert Milliner said: "Thank you to our clients and lawyers who worked as one team on our winning deals in ALB's Australasian Law Awards. The Awards recognise our partnership approach, commercial focus and determination to get the deal through."

The firm's performance in the ALB Awards follows its recent success in being ranked as International Financial Law Review's Asian Regional Law Firm of the Year for the third year running.
