Geoff Hay is a Special Counsel in the Canberra office of Mallesons Stephen Jaques, where he specialises in providing property and commercial legal advice. He works with local property owners and developers, corporate and commercial clients, tertiary institutions, government clients and industry associations, providing strategic advice on property acquisitions and disposals and commercial leasing issues.

Geoff has advised a large Canberra-based property owner on the sale of a major commercial property portfolio valued at $44 million to GE Real Estate Australia. He also advises on the commercial and retail leases code of practice and has presented seminars on this topic.

In 2005 Geoff was a member of the ACT Law Society's drafting committee which presented the new residential sale contract to members.

Advised Willemsen Group on the unitisation of residential apartment developments and prepared contracts for the sale of off-the-plan units
Provided advice to Becton Corporation on its off-the-plan residential sale contract and supervised the sale process
Advised the Australian National University on the disposal of its property portfolio including the subdivision of existing holdings
Acted for Westpac on the acquisition of the ACT residential portfolio of the Defence Housing Authority
Provided strategic advice to the Australian Trucking Association on the leasing and financial arrangements for the construction of its commercial office building in Forrest ACT
Advised Woolworths on the disposal of retail and commercial property incluidng lease back arrangements
Acted for GE Capital on the purchase of Campbell Park commercial offices in the ACT
Provided strategic legal advice to National Australia Bank on the disposal of retail and commercial property including lease back arrangements
