 Professional Biography

 

  • Moira Saville is a partner in our Sydney office, where she specialises in dispute resolution in the areas of class actions, product liability, professional liability, insurance and royal commissions / special commissions of inquiry.

    Moira has acted for clients to resolve a broad range of commercial disputes, including class action suits, product liability claims, technology disputes, contractual disputes, claims against professionals, insurance, trade practices claims and equity matters. She has also defended clients in regulatory investigations, as well as two special commissions of inquiry. In recent years she has specialised in managing large and complex litigation matters for clients.

    Moira is the Australian Editor of the International Law Office Product Liability Newsletter. Moira is also on the Board of the National Children's & Youth Law Centre.

  • Acting for Brookfield Multiplex in defence of a shareholder class action involving claims of misleading market disclosures and continuous disclosure obligations.
  • Acting for Bristol Myers in the breast implant class actions.
  • Advising Australian companies in relation to threatened class action proceedings and litigation funding arrangements.
  • Product Liability
  • Advising an Australian distributor of imported building products in relation to product liability and recall issues in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Advising overseas manufacturers in relation to product liability issues and product recalls in Australia.
  • Advising fast moving consumer goods clients on product on product liability issues including recalls and allegations of product tainting.
  • Acting for RailCorp before the Special Commissions of Inquiry into the Waterfall and Glenbrook Rail Accidents which included investigation of the rolling stock in the accidents.
  • Other Matters
  • Acting for defendents in proceedings alleging breach of contract, negligence and misrepresentations in connection with a software implementation project.
  • Citigroup Wealth Advisors - defence of disciplinary proceedings brought by ASX arising from the fraud of a former financial advisor.
  • Citigroup Global Markets Australia - acted for a key Citigroup witness in ASIC proceedings successfully defended by Citigroup alleging conflict of interest arising out of the takeover of Patrick Corporation by Toll Holdings.
  • Acting for a number of clients in connection with ASIC investigations into alleged breaches of director's duties and insider trading.
