 Professional Biography

 

  • Mark Upfold is the sector leader for infrastructure and specialises in privatisations, PPP/PFI, infrastructure, water, project financing, energy and resources and complex financing transactions.

    Mark has led our teams on a number of significant recent infrastructure transactions including acting for Sydney Water and the State of New South Wales on the successful refinancing for the $2.3 billion Sydney Desalination transaction (IPA Project of the Year 2013), a shortlisted bidder for Port Botany and Port Kembla, the Darwin Correctional Facilities PPP and Marine Supply Base Project for the Northern Territory and the financing of the successful Gold Coast Rapid Transit PPP.

    Chambers Global Guide 2013 reports that Mark "draws praise both for the volume and diversity of his work and his pragmatic approach”.

    The Asia Pacific Legal 500 2010/2011 rates Mark as a Leading Individual in the Projects and Infrastructure discipline. Mark has been ranked a Leading Individual for many years.

    Mark is ranked in Best Lawyers 2012 in three disciplines: Asset Finance, Project Finance and Development and Banking and Finance. Mark's ranking in all three disciplines has been continuous since the inception of Best Lawyers in Australia.
