 Professional Biography

 
  • Nicholas Creed is a partner in our Perth office where he assists clients in the financing of resources, oil and gas and infrastructure projects, telecommunications, property and general corporate finance, corporate treasury activities and public / private partnerships.

    Nicholas has 15 years' experience in acting on significant, keynote transactions including those nominated as deals of the year by IFLR Asia and Australasian Legal Business.

    He has published articles on smart cards, electronic banking, financial services reform and conflicts of laws in international trade finance. He has assisted in teaching finance subjects at Monash University and in the Macquarie University Applied Finance Centre's Masters of Applied Finance Program.

    In the late 1990s, Nicholas worked on secondment in the Banking and Capital Markets Group in the London office of international law firm Simmons & Simmons. He has also worked in Melbourne, Sydney and Hong Kong.

  • China Eximbank - Sinosteel/Midwest Financing (Winner of IFLR Asia 2009 M&A Deal of the Year and China Law and Practice 2009 M&A Deal of the Year) - Mallesons acted for China Eximbank in connection with the financing of China's Sinosteel Corporation's US$1.3 billion successful bid for Australian iron ore miner Midwest Corporation
  • BankWest, ANZ, Commonwealth Bank of Australia and Mizuho Corporate Bank as financiers to the Great Southern Plantations Group
  • Westpac Institutional Bank and ABN AMRO Bank as arrangers of Iluka Resources Limited's $500 million syndicated term and working capital facilities
  • ARC Energy - financing of acquisition of an interest in the Wandoo, Cliff Head (WA) and BassGas (Vic) oil and gas assets
  • Westpac - acquisition and corporate finance facilities to the iiNet Limited Group
