 Professional Biography

 
  • Stephen Skehill is Special Counsel in the Canberra office of Mallesons Stephen Jaques. He practices in the areas of trade practices and regulatory law, as well as public, administrative and constitutional law, with particular emphases on strategic and policy advice, corporate governance, legislative interpretation and drafting and government reviews and enquiries.

    He has acted as an adviser on regulatory issues applicable to lessees of various Australian Airports and to the Australian Airports Association, and he participated in the inquiry into the Civil Aviation Safety Authority's regulation of Aquatic Air Pty Ltd / South Pacific Seaplanes.

    Stephen has advised a range of national clients, including Telstra Corporation Ltd, on trade practices and competition law. He worked on the review of corporate governance in the Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry portfolio. He was also Convenor of the Working Party on Independence of the Judiciary for the Commonwealth Secretariat in London.
