Exciting and Satisfying Work
Mallesons is rated by independent surveys as Australia’s premier law firm and a leader in the region. Its blue chip client base generates complex and premium work offering exciting opportunities involving high profile matters and projects at the forefront of legal developments.
The firm's strong team culture and the work undertaken by the firm’s people for its wide ranging client base are the single most important factors in making it the employer of choice for young lawyers.
Continuous Learning
The firm provides its lawyers with hands-on experience supported by personal guidance of partners and formal training.
We provide a continuous learning environment supported by a strong commitment to both formal and informal education, and development. Last year we ran over 900 courses.
Career Development
Mallesons places significant importance on career development. The firm provides assistance for external study and actively encourages secondments to clients and overseas firms.
Last year 109 of our lawyers completed secondments to clients and 12% made use of our leave of absence and external career development policies to work with overseas law firms or clients, or undertake post-graduate education.
Our ongoing review system enables us to adhere to a policy of promoting our people based on merit. In the last two years there have been 144 lawyers promoted to senior associate and 24 promoted to partnership.
Work/Life Balance
Mallesons has been awarded the 2008 EOWA Employer of Choice for Women citation for the second year running. EOWA is the Federal Government’s Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency, which promotes the advancement of women among employers across Australia. Mallesons was among a number of large law firms also granted the citation.
The citation follows Mallesons winning the 2007 EOWA Business Achievement Award for Leading organisation for the advancement of women (500+ employees) in November of last year. Mallesons was the first law firm to win this award.
