What is the Mallesons Mentoring Program?
Mentoring at Mallesons is more than just providing a buddy to show new staff the essentials of day to day work. Mentoring is a way to support the professional and personal development of all staff throughout their career at Mallesons. We acknowledge the success of informal mentoring relationships in the firm and have introduced formal mentoring programs.
The Program has over 600 participants (of which 55% are women).
What are the benefits of the Mentoring Program
- develop leadership skills
- share knowledge, experience and skills with colleagues
- build on listening and communication skills
- gain an understanding of the viewpoints and interests of others

Quotes
"When I started as a young lawyer mentoring was not recognised as such. I was fortunate to form informal mentoring relationships throughout my career which have helped me at different stages including making various career decisions. I value my mentors' support in dealing with a range of issues, particularly weighing up the pros and cons of difficult decisions - they have given me a fresh perspective when I wasn't seeing the woods for the trees."
Robert Milliner, Chief Executive Partner
"Mentors are to success - what feathers are to flying."
Hurley 1988
At Mallesons we define mentoring as:
"..a structured process in which a more experienced colleague is paired with a less experienced colleague for the purpose of supporting their personal and professional development."
