Professional biography
Alan Murray is the head of the resources group of Mallesons Stephen Jaques. He is based in the Perth office where he specialises in corporate and resources work, acting principally for oil, gas and mining companies.
His experience includes drafting and advising on farm-in and joint venture documentation, sale and purchase agreements, construction contracts, state agreements and other project and resource-related documentation. He also deals with environmental, native title and stamp duty matters.
Alan drafted and advised on the farm-out of an interest in a gold project in Kalimantan and on farm-ins to West Africa oil exploration acreage. He acted for Chevron Group on the internal reorganisation of ownership of its Australian assets, including assuming operatorship of a number of oil and gas joint ventures from WAPET.
Alan has been recommended (band 1) in Energy & Natural Resources by Chambers Global Guide 2009 and is described as a "strong energy lawyer who is doing a great job leading the firm's Perth practice". Alan has also been nominated as a leading individual in Energy and Resources by APL 500 2008/2009 and PLC Which Lawyer 2009.
