Professional biography
Chris Fox is a Partner in our Melbourne office where he specialises in dispute resolution. He has been with Mallesons Stephen Jaques since 1985, save for the period from 1987 to 1990 when he worked in London for Herbert Smith.
Chris has been involved in many significant and complex litigation and dispute resolution matters related to telecommunications, access disputes, mergers and acquisitions, class actions, corporations law, company disputes, copyright, general commercial litigation and trade practices (both restrictive trade practices and consumer protection matters).
His principal clients include Telstra Corporation and its subsidiary Sensis, BHP Billiton, Crown Casino, Tabcorp,Lion Nathan and its subsidiary Tooheys. He has also acted for many other clients, including the Governor-General of Australia in relation to civil proceedings brought against him (and subsequently dismissed) in 2003.
Chris has been recognised as a leading dispute resolution and litigation practitioner in numerous international and Australian journals and directories for many years. These publications include Practical Law Company's Which Lawyer? Yearbook, Practical Law's Global Counsel 3000 and Euromoney's Expert Guides - Litigation Lawyers.
Chris one of only 15 commercial litigators in Australia included in The International Who's Who of Business Lawyers, and is described in the 2008/2009 edition of The Asia Pacific Legal 500 as an "outstanding litigator". Chris was also one of the 8 Australian nominees in Euromoney's Expert Guide to Commercial Arbitration.
