Professional biography
Chris is the lead partner in the firm’s Canberra Property, Construction and Environment Group.
Chris specialises in commercial, property and development projects as well as advising in the areas of construction, planning and environment law. He has established a significant reputation in the business and government community - advising in relation to major property developments and commercial matters, participating in significant and complex transactions and working with both the public and private sectors on planning law reform. He is an active participant in delivering seminars on a variety of property, construction, leasing and planning and environment topics.
Chris has been involved in many significant and high profile property (commercial, retail, residential and joint venture) developments as well as major property acquisitions and disposals.
Chris also provides planning and environment law advice, assisting clients with their development applications, planning objectives and tribunal and court appeals, as well as dealing with the planning and environment authorities.
He has a leading role in contributing to the property and legal industries through his participation in many Property Council of Australia and Law Society committees. From 2005-2007 Chris was a member of the ACT Government's planning law reform reference group and the draft restructured Territory Plan reference from July to October 2007. He often heads submissions and delegations to government advocating reform and communicating the positions of both the property and legal sectors.
He is presently Treasurer and Chair of the Economic Development Committee for the Property Council of Australia (ACT Division).
