Professional biography
Dave Poddar is a Partner in the Competition team in our Sydney office. He specialises in antitrust law, particularly mergers and acquisitions, as well as general competition and cartel matters. In recent years Dave has acted in numerous high profile mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures and has also been involved in providing advice to private parties in Australia's agricultural, mining, energy, rail, pharmaceutical, media and grocery sectors.
Dave has represented business and professional bodies in relation to law reform in Australia and internationally. He has acted for the Business Council of Australia on submissions to government inquiries, as well as for small business and other associations on law reform and deregulation. He has represented the Law Council of Australia in relation to merger law reform.
Dave is a non-governmental adviser to the International Competition Network. He is a member of numerous International Bar Association working groups and co-chair in relation to competition law in India, China and Hong Kong, as well as a member of the International Chamber of Commerce working groups on cartels and mergers.
Dave is included in the International Who's Who of Competition Lawyers and Economists, the US publication Best Lawyers International, IFLR Guide to the World's Leading Competition & Antitrust Lawyers, Chambers Global Guide 2009 the PLC Cross-border Competition Handbook 2009. He was previously included in the Global Competition Review selection of the World's 40 leading competition lawyers and economists under 40.
