Professional biography
Michael Barker is a Partner in our Sydney office where he specialises in private equity, venture capital and M&A transactions. His clients include private equity funds and listed and unlisted corporate groups, both domestic and offshore. Michael also regularly advises on equity capital fundraisings, general corporate law, employee share plans, reconstructions and joint ventures.
Michael was previously a UK lawyer with private equity and M&A experience with Travers Smith in London before emigrating with his family to Australia in 2000. He also has UK accounting experience with PwC in London.
PLC Which Lawyer? rates Michael as a "Highly Recommended" private equity lawyer for Australia. In the ALB Guide to Private Equity 2009, clients said Michael was "measured in his approach, pragmatic, interacted well with team members, 'did not get caught up in a ditch of irrelevancies', had a good manner...".
