Over the last 14 years he has been heavily involved in many of Australia’s major infrastructure projects and mergers and acquisitions as well as having played a number of significant roles in the restructuring of the Australian electricity and gas industries through advising:

  • Cheung Kong Infrastructure Holdings on its A$239 million acquisition of a 40% interest in the A$1.7 billion Lane Cove Tunnel Toll road project in Sydney, Australia
  • Cheung Kong Infrastructure Holdings on its A$500 million (50%) investment as the major equity participant in the A$1 billion Cross City Tunnel BOOT toll road project in Sydney Australia
  • Cheung Kong Infrastructure Holdings Limited and Hongkong Electric International Limited on the A$1.55 billion acquisition of the CitiPower retail and network businesses and the on sale of the retail business to Origin Energy
  • Cheung Kong Infrastructure Holdings Limited and Hongkong Electric International Limited on the A$3.5 billion acquisition of the ETSA Utilities and ETSA Power businesses in South Australia (and the subsequent Australian and Euro Corporate Bond refinancing for A$2.5 billion and sale of ETSA Power) and the A$2.4 billion acquisition of Powercor Australia in Victoria (and subsequent A$1.688 billion refinancing and A$325 million sale of Powercor Retail)
  • GPU, Inc. on its A$2.1 billion sale of GPU PowerNet Pty Ltd and its proposed sale of GPU GasNet Pty Ltd (having acted for GPU Inc. in the acquisition of both businesses for A$2.5 billion and A$1.025 billion respectively)
  • Asian Development Bank in conjunction with PricewaterhouseCoopers on power industry restructuring in China
  • Ontario Hydro (Ontario, Canada) on its restructuring and the establishment of the Ontario wholesale electricity market
  • The National Grid Management Council (a Council of Australian Federal and State Governments) on the development of the Australian national electricity market and the National Electricity Market Management Company Ltd on the implementation of the national electricity market
  • The Victorian Government on electricity industry reform and privatisation of the distribution businesses United Energy, Powercor Australia and CitiPower and the Yallourn Energy power stations.
