Professional biography
Sean Selleck is a special counsel in the Melbourne centre where he specialises in employment and industrial relations.
Sean advises on employment issues (contracts, policies, entitlements, disciplinary processes and redundancies); provides representation in employment disputes (dismissals, discrimination claims, restraints of trade and confidentiality) develops and implements workplace agreements; and provides advice and representation in industrial disputes.
Sean has extensive experience in dealing with the many and complex employment and industrial issues thrown up in transactions involving the sale and purchase of businesses. This experience includes the conduct of many due diligences; the negotiation of the employment provisions in sale and purchase agreements; transitioning employees from vendors to purchasers; and assisting post-completion with integration and restructuring issues.
Sean has special expertise with respect to non-standard labour practices such as labour hire, outsourcing, casual employment and the use of independent contractors. He also has special expertise with employment issues in insolvency situations.
Sean appears in the Australian Industrial Relations Commission, all Victorian and Federal Courts, the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, and the Australian Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission.
