 Professional Biography

 
  • Alexander Morris is a partner in our Sydney office where he specialises in corporate regulatory inquiries, litigation and commercial disputes.

    Alex's practice has a particular emphasis upon matters involving the Corporations Act (principally financial services and securities regulation). He acts for listed companies and financial intermediaries in connection with ASIC and ASX investigations and administrative hearings, shareholder class actions, Takeovers Panel applications, schemes of arrangement, compulsory acquisitions and significant commercial disputes. He also advises domestic and offshore financial intermediaries on compliance with Australia's financial services and securities regulation regimes.

  • Representing PricewaterhouseCoopers in the defence of the Centro class action
  • Representing Spark Infrastructure in obtaining approval of schemes of arrangement to convert a five product stapled security into a two security staple
  • Representing Primary Healthcare in the successful defence of a claim by another bidder for a $20 million break fee arising from Primary's takeover of Symbion
  • Representing Brookfield Multiplex in respect of ASIC's investigation of disclosures concerning the Wembley Stadium Project and the subsequent shareholder class action
