 Professional Biography

 
  • Greg Golding is a Partner in the Sydney office of King & Wood Mallesons where he specialises in the areas of contested public company takeovers, reconstructions and capital raisings. Greg has been involved in many of Australia's most significant mergers and acquisition transactions.

  • For Macquarie Group Initial listing of ordinary shares on ASX in 1997, $20 billion non operating holding company restructure scheme of arrangement in 2007, $4 billion capital raisings in 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2009.
  • For Lion Nathan $4 billion acquisition of Tooheys, Swan, XXXX, SA Brewing, Hahn, Boags breweries, $500 million acquisition of Petaluma and Banksia wine businesses by Lion Nathan over the last two decades and $6 billion going private transaction involving Lion Nathan and Kirin in 2009.
  • For AMP $10 billion demerger in 2003, $3 billion acquisition of GIO by takeover and scheme of arrangement in 1998 and 1999, $1.5 billion capital returns in 2006 and 2007, $4 billion capital raisings in 2003, 2008 and 2009.
  • Some illustrative transactions Greg has been involved in: $20 billion investment by Chinalco in Rio Tinto in 2008 and terminated $30 billion investment by Chinalco in Rio Tinto in 2009 (for Chinalco). $15 billion terminated acquisition of Qantas Airways by Airline Partners Australia in 2007 (for APA). $6.6 billion acquisition of PBL Media by CVC in 2007 (for CVC).
