 Professional Biography

 
  • Tim Bednall is a Partner in our Sydney office where he practices in mergers and acquisitions, corporate advisory and competition law. Tim has advised a number of leading companies in major M&A transactions (including Alinta Energy, Challenger, ING Real Estate, BG Group, Xstrata, ASX, Stockland and Westpac) and a range of government, public and foreign clients in competition law and policy.

    Tim is recommended as a Leading Individual, Band 1, in the area of Corporate/M&A by Chambers Global Guide 2011 and as a "leading individual" by Asia Pacific Legal 500 2010/2011.

    Chambers Global Guide 2011 describes Tim as "unshakable under pressure, sought out for his counsel on complicated and time-sensitive transactions".

  • Advised Challenger on the sale of its mortgage business to NAB, 2009
  • Advised BG Group plc on its successful $5.6bn on-market bid for Queensland Gas Company, 2008
  • Advised BG Group plc on its bid for Origin Energy, 2008
  • Advised BG Group plc on the acquisition of interests in QGC and its coal seam gas tenements, 2008
  • Advised Xstrata on its bids for Jubilee Mines and Resource Pacific, 2008
