Energy Efficiency Opportunities Act 2006 (Cth) - Moving forward after registration

Our Alert of 22 March 2007 highlighted the need for corporate groups that used more than 0.5 petajoules (PJ) of energy in 2005-2006 to register under the Energy Efficiency Opportunities Act 2006 (Cth) by 31 March 2007. By now you will hopefully have assessed whether your corporate group was required to register. To help you to further assess the implications of registration, we will be holding a breakfast seminar with representatives from the Department of Industry, Tourism and Resources.

Seminar details

The seminar will be held at 9.00am on Friday 11 May 2007 at our Melbourne office. We would also welcome your feedback on any particular issues that you would like addressed at this briefing. If you or another representative from your office are interested in attending please contact:

Liz Nicol on T +61 3 9643 5217 or email

Moving forward after registration

At this briefing, we will discuss the steps that participants in the program need to follow. For example:

  • assessing opportunities for improving energy efficiency
  • preparing and following an Assessment and Reporting Schedule
  • the Assessment Framework, including requirements for leadership support and communication to senior management
  • public reporting; and
  • reporting to the Department.

Moving forward, we welcome your attendance at our offices for a briefing on each of these steps and other issues to be addressed by participants in the program.
