The latest ICSID caseload statistical report, covering the period from 1 July 2010 to 30 June 2011, confirms that countries in South East Asia and the Pacific are embracing ICSID as a forum for settling international disputes.
South East Asia and the Pacific accounted for 16% of the distribution of new ICSID cases registered in the 2011 financial year. In comparison, for the same period last year, South East Asia and the Pacific accounted for only 7%. This represents a significant increase in ICSID cases in one year involving countries in South East Asia and the Pacific and is reflective of the growth of international arbitration work in the region.
