Mallesons backs world first unsupported return trek to the South Pole

Mallesons Stephen Jaques, a leading law firm in the Asian region, supports Cas & Jonesy's 'Crossing the Ice'.  This is an attempt at a world first, unsupported trek from the coast of Antarctica to the South Pole, and back again. The two Australian adventurers will walk 2200 kms, pulling 150kg each of provisions - starting in November 2011, and finishing in January 2012.

Mallesons CEP elect, Stuart Fuller said: "Occasionally we get to do something a little different which goes to the heart of what Mallesons is about. These two explorers will have to be brave, and have courage.  They are trying something different and they will need to back themselves.  These are character traits which we encourage at Mallesons."

The firm will run events whilst the trek is underway to reinforce its links with key organisations such as the Australian Conservation Foundation, the work that Mallesons in the Community undertakes, and a dedicated program aimed at reducing the firm's carbon footprint even further.

Stuart Fuller said: "Everything we do, whether it's with our clients, our key stakeholders or with each other is about building great things together.  We can only achieve this if staff innovate, collaborate and engage and these are the characteristics that we admire about Cas & Jonesy'.

Cas & Jonesy join explorers and adventurers such as Scott, Amunsden, Hilary and Fitzgerald who have all attempted the trek.

Cas and Jonesy will also raise money for the Sony Foundation’s 'You Can' campaign.  By sponsoring each step they  take, we can make a difference to the lives of young Australians with cancer.  To find out more visit: and check out our YouTube video.
