Dispute resolution and commercial arbitration
Max’s practice involves all forms of dispute resolution. His dispute resolution experience spans a variety of fields including telecommunications, contractual disputes, trade practices, professional negligence, Corporations Act disputes, sports law and credit regulation.
He is experienced in mediation and arbitration as well as litigation in each of the major Australian jurisdictions. Much of his recent work has involved disputes concerning complex technological problems, including the arbitration of a complex contractual dispute between an electricity retailer and its supplier. He advises on the drafting and interpretation of arbitration agreements. Recently Max has advised on matters such as an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport and the enforceability of a French arbitral award in Australia.
Max holds a Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration from the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (London) and is a member of the Institute. He is currently undertaking his pupillage to become a Chartered Arbitrator. His recent publications include "Arbitrability of competition disputes in Australian law" in the Australian Law Journal.
