Joanna is a Special Counsel in the Employee Relations & Safety team, sought after for her practical risk-based advice in the most technically complex matters. Joanna works across advisory, transactional and litigation matters, with deep credentials in the financial services sector.

Advising across the spectrum of employment matters, Joanna has particular expertise in executive employment transitions, corporate governance compliance, remuneration and incentives (including FAR, and CPS511 disclosures and reviews), whistleblowing, workplace disputes, workforce engagement models and restructures, and terminations and restraints.

Joanna has practiced in the UK, and also brings a substantial breadth of employment expertise tailored to global organisations, including global mobility and complex cross border employment arrangements.

Joanna’s experience includes:

  • structuring executive employment arrangements, including drafting and negotiating senior executive contracts and separations
  • advising on executive remuneration and incentives, including the Financial Accountability Regime, CPS511, employee share schemes and the termination benefits regime
  • employment issues connected with corporate transactions, including transfer of business provisions, enterprise agreement impacts and mitigations and leadership team transitions
  • post-employment restrictive covenants, including implementation reviews, drafting, and enforcement
  • global mobility and international employment issues, including entry into Australia, secondments, assignments and relocations, and global employment models
  • industrial relations matters including enterprise bargaining, and enterprise agreement interpretation advice
  • advice regarding regulatory obligation breaches, including whistleblowing, bullying, harassment, misconduct, and associated investigations including post-investigation rectification and reform
  • advice on disciplinary matters, grievances and complaints and employee terminations (individual and collective)
  • general employment issues including classification of workers, modern award coverage, and leave entitlements and obligations
