The firm has been awarded Syndicated Project Finance Law Firm of the Year in the APLMA Syndicated Loan Market Award.

Now in its 15th year, the awards recognise outstanding achievements across 35 categories within the Asia Pacific syndicated loan market. All winners were determined through a voting process conducted by Asia Pacific Loan Market Association (APLMA) members.

The firm is Chambers and Legal500 Band 1 for Project Finance.

In the past 12 months, the team of Jeff Clark, Chris Dynon, Jo Crew, Claire Rogers, Jonathan Oldham, Amy Maguire, Andrew Maynes, Tim Ma, Rebecca Finkelstein, Catherine Danne and Nathan Collins have acted on a series of headline matters including:

  • Nation‑building energy transmission: Advised the Clean Energy Finance Corporation on its A$3.8 billion long‑term concessional financing for the Marinus Link interconnector, its largest investment to date and a cornerstone of Australia’s energy transition. The project was led by Jo Crew. A team led by Tim Ma also advised the Tasmanian Government on the project.
  • Mega infrastructure or holdco financing: Advised Abu Dhabi Investment Authority on a first‑of‑kind A$3.745bn portfolio holdco financing backed by minority interests in major Australian infrastructure assets. Led by Claire Rogers and Amy Maguire, the transaction was the first of its kind in Australia and ADIA’s first holdco financing globally.
  • Digital infrastructure at scale: Advised financiers on CDC Data Centres’ A$1.1 billion multi‑tranche platform refinancing and on STACK’s Melbourne greenfield data centre financings of A$1.29 billion and A$2.96 billion, reinforcing the firm’s strength in large‑scale digital infrastructure financing. Led by Jeff Clark.
  • Energy transition storage and renewables: Advised sponsors and financiers on a range of battery and renewable energy financings, including EnergyAustralia’s Wooreen ESS (~A$667 million), Equis’ Calala BESS (~A$315 million) and Atmos’ Merredin BESS (A$182 million) led by Chris Dynon.

Commenting on the award, Partner and co-lead of the Project Finance team Jeff Clark, said:

“We are proud of the depth and breadth of our project finance practice and the trust our clients place in us to advise on Australia’s most significant and complex financings. Over the past year, our team has been at the centre of major nation‑building infrastructure, digital investment and energy transition projects, helping clients navigate increasingly sophisticated funding structures.”

Partner and co-lead of the Project Finance team, Chris Dynon, added:

“We are seeing unprecedented investment across energy transition and infrastructure, with financing structures becoming more complex and interconnected. This recognition from the APLMA is a testament to our team’s ability to deliver innovative, commercial solutions for sponsors, financiers and governments in a rapidly evolving market.”
