King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) has advised Infrastructure NSW on the development of the landmark New Sydney Fish Market at Blackwattle Bay, one of NSW’s most significant cultural and infrastructure projects.
The development delivers a state-of-the-art fish market and a major new public waterfront destination, strengthening Sydney’s seafood supply chain while creating vibrant dining, retail and community spaces.
Infrastructure NSW led the delivery of the project on behalf of the NSW Government, working closely with the market operator and a broad range of public and private stakeholders to transition operations to the new Blackwattle Bay site.
KWM has advised on the development since its original concept was conceived in 2016, supporting delivery across the full project lifecycle from commercial structuring and construction through to leasing and transition to the new facility.
The KWM team was led by Partner Chris Mitchell with support from Partners Hamish Macpherson and Steve Swan, Senior Associates Grace Evans and Qin Bi and Solicitor Mohab Sidaoui.
Commenting on the project, Chris Mitchell said:
“We’re honoured to have been a part of this iconic project, contributing to the revitalisation of Sydney’s waterfront and supporting the city’s vibrant tourism and seafood industries. A massive congratulations to Infrastructure NSW and the NSW Government for getting this across the line and to all involved”.
KWM’s long-standing involvement reflects the firm’s ability to advise on complex, multi-stakeholder infrastructure developments.
