King & Wood Mallesons has advised Atlas Arteria on its $3.1 billion entitlement offer to help fund its acquisition of a 66.67% majority interest in Skyway Concession Company LLC, the concessionaire of the Chicago Skyway toll road, and associated transaction costs.

This transaction is the second-largest equity raising in Australia this year.

The KWM team was led by partners Henrik Moritz and Amanda Isouard with support from Rahul Mukherjee, Amy Xi and Arslan Ahmed.

This role continues KWM’s association with Atlas Arteria, having acted on their previous $1.35 billion entitlement offer and placement and $425 million placement and share purchase plan.

Reflecting on the transaction, Henrik Moritz said: “We were delighted to work with Atlas Arteria on this significant transaction.  It is great to see Australian listed infrastructure companies competing successfully for highly valued and sought-after assets globally”.

Amanda Isouard noted that: “This transaction continues KWM’s strong track record of advising issuers and lead managers on many of Australia’s largest and most significant equity raisings”.

KWM also acted on the largest equity raising this year, advising ANZ on its $3.5 billion entitlement offer to fund the acquisition of Suncorp Bank.
