King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) is acting as global legal counsel for EMR Capital and the other investors on the sale of their interests in Martabe gold and silver mine (Martabe) located in North Sumatra.  The purchaser of Martabe is Indonesia's PT Danusa Tambang Nusantara (a company owned by PT United Tractors Tbk and PT Pamapersada Nusantara).

The transaction will see EMR Capital and the other investors sell their entire interest in Martabe for an enterprise value of US$1.21 billion.

The KWM team was led by Partners Mark McNamara and Paul Schroder, supported by Senior Associate Mark Vanderneut and Solicitors Eunice Leung and Jing Wang.  KWM's Beijing, Singapore, Hong Kong and London offices all assisted on the global sale process.

Commenting on the transaction Partner Mark McNamara said "We were delighted to be engaged on this landmark transaction for EMR Capital and the other investors.  During their ownership gold and silver production at the mine was substantially increased and reserves were doubled.  There were also significant operational efficiencies achieved."

Also commenting on the transaction Partner Paul Schroder said: "This sale required us to work across a range of jurisdictions and really highlighted KWM's capability in Asia to lead significant and complex cross-border transactions".
