Mallesons has advised AusEnergy Services Limited (ASL) on Tender Round 7 for Long-Term Energy Service Agreements (LTESAs) under the NSW Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap.
This tender focused on firming infrastructure and demand response – both of which are critical to maintaining system reliability as NSW accelerates the transition to renewable generation – within the Sydney-Newcastle-Wollongong region.
Together with the NSW Government, ASL announced the award of contracts under Tender Round 7 for 532 MW of dispatchable capacity. This exceeds the 500MW initially sought from the market.

Commenting on the tender, Vishal said:
“Supporting ASL on Tender round 7 – its second firming tender – highlights the continued evolution of the NSW firming market, and its role in strengthening the reliability of the State’s power supply through new firming infrastructure. The work involved learnings from the previous firming tender and advancement in technology and demonstrates the firm’s leading role in market design and regulation, enabling the next phase of Australia’s energy transition.”
Mallesons also advised ASL on Tender Rounds 1-6 and has deep experience advising on renewable energy tender processes across generation, firming and long-duration storage infrastructure. The firm continues to be at the forefront of market-leading transactions that support Australia’s energy transition.
