As a leading independent firm from Australia, Mallesons and its associated entities have brands that are trusted and respected. Unfortunately, this means that there are people who use our brands to attempt to carry out fraudulent schemes. We are aware of a number of fraudulent communications (usually e-mails, letters, websites or social media accounts) that are using our firm’s name and logo claiming to be from our firm or associated entities. Mallesons takes steps to protect our brand from misuse but cannot always be aware of each incident. Please follow these steps to protect yourself from a scam.

How can you protect yourself?

  • Verify Mallesons contact information on our official websites and social media accounts (see below). The information on our website should always be used to verify the authenticity of suspicious communication.
  • The contact information listed on our websites will always be the most accurate information for Mallesons and its Partners, employees and associated entities. We encourage you to independently verify details given to you on any email, letter or telephone call if you have reason to believe that the communication is not legitimate.
  • Check for key indicators of phishing emails such as the sender email address, generic greetings, urgent language, context, grammar and spelling error, suspicious links and attachments. We do not send official communications from domains such as gmail, hotmail, icloud or yahoo (this is not an exhaustive list).
  • If you receive a suspicious communication purporting to be from Mallesons or its associated entities and are unsure as to its authenticity, please do not respond, click on any links or open any attachments. Please use the information on our website to verify its authenticity and if that cannot be done please contact the Privacy Officer at Mallesons at [email protected] and attach any relevant examples or screenshots in the email.

Neither Mallesons nor any of its associated entities are responsible for any losses incurred in connection with a fraudulent communication.
